HARBOROUGH Feathers Badminton Club men's first team started their league campaign with an away fixture against Brixworth.
Pete Wheat and Paul Barnett formed a new partnership and made a strong start, easily taking the first end. However their lack of match practice together showed, as they lost the second end and were 11-8 down in the final end. But they pulled it round
and stormed through on a run of ten unanswered points to take the game. They were never troubled in the next two games, winning those to give the team a solid start.

Paul Callow and Chris Holt resumed their successful partnership. They were never troubled in any of their games, as their understanding of each other’s game proved to be too strong for the opposition.

Andrew Bailey and Simon Davies played together for the first time in a match and made a good start, winning their first two games. In their final game it looked as though they might be in some trouble, losing the first end. But they fought back well and took the other two ends, to give Feathers a convincing 9-0 win and a perfect platform for a promotion push.

Anyone interested in joining Feathers can attend club night on Fridays at 7.30pm at Welland Park College, or go to www.harboroughfeathers.co.uk for contact details and further information.
