Young horse riders' show of strength

ENTHUSIASTIC young horse riders who have set up a new committee are appealing for members following the success of its first show.
The South Kilworth Riding Club Junior Committee was established earlier this year for those aged ten to 18, as an off-shoot of the senior South Kilworth Riding Club.
The junior group held its first show last month and despite poor weather managed to attract about 60 entries and raise £400 for Northants and Leicestershire Air Ambulance.
Esther Birrell, a paediatric nurse from Husbands Bosworth who joined the senior club a few years ago and who is now helping the junior committee, said: "It is about having fun and raising money for a good cause. We would still like a few more members to join."
The summer event raised the charity cash through entry fees, donations and sponsorship for jumps. Entrants came from Harborough, Fleckney, the Kilworths, Husbands Bosworth and Northamptonshire.
The air ambulance was chosen as the beneficiary as it has attended the scene of horse riding accidents across the county over the years.
The committee, which has more than a dozen members, is planning a trip to the Horse of the Year Show's diamond jubilee event in October.
The senior and junior clubs are based in the grounds of 17th century Bosworth Hall in Husbands Bosworth.
The senior club was formed 28 years ago in South Kilworth but has retained the name since moving to Bosworth several years ago.
