HARBOROUGH A hosted the second round of the National League and repeated their round one effort as runners-up.
An excellent performance saw them beaten only by Bramcote.

They had just four wins but achieved a succession of seconds and thirds, with nine best times too.

Star performance came from Stephanie Britain with a comfortable win in the 15/u back
stroke and a fingertip finish gave her the freestyle. She also took third in the open backstroke.

Candice Hall had a fine swim to take the 11/u butterfly, with Kevin James hitting top form to take the open butterfly.

Seconds went to Charlotte Maxfield, Theo Brogan (two), Rebecca Boyd, Anna Meadows, Dale Murphy, Ruth Cheema (two), Morne Potgieter (two), Edward Robinson, girls’ 13/u freestyle and medley relays, girls 15/u freestyle relay.

Best times: Tom Tonge, Theo Brogan, Dale Murphy (two), Edward Robinson, Charlotte Maxfield, Anna Meadows (two), Elly Bott.

Result: Bramcote 219, Harborough 194, Trenton Dolphins 187, Thetford 180, Corby 153, Daventry 114.

Harborough B were competing at Aylestone in the Leicester Autumn League and finished third.

Luke Marston completed a double in the 14/u butterfly and freestyle, and when joined by James Gardner, Alastair Gordon and Dominic Jennings, both relays were won too.

The 12/u boys’ freestyle relay line-up also won with determined swims from Will Marriott, Josh Bott, George Robinson and Tarun Cheema

A sole girls’ win went to Echo Feavyour in the 14/u butterfly.

Best times: Will Marriott (two), Andrew Cole, Luke Marston, Josh Bott, Oliver Marriott, Gabrielle Jeffrey (two), Molly Smith, Echo Feavyour.

Result: Penguins C 164 , Braunstone B 127, Harborough B 103, Knighton Fields 79.
