BOROUGH Alliance under-15s Eagles edged out Castle Rise to claim their first win of the season in a thrilling nine-goal contest.
The strike partnership of man of the match Roy Barber and Ryan Chapman created plenty of chances for the home side in the first half, and a Barber double gave them a 2-1 interval lead.

Second half goals by Chapman and Jordan Humphries saw Eagles
cruising but they were guilty of taking their foot off the pedal, which allowed Castle to draw level with three goals in the space of ten minutes. However shell-shocked Eagles got back to playing football and scored a match-winning fifth goal after some good play down the right.

Solid defending from Michael Lowe and a captain’s performance from midfielder Declan Commins steadied the ship, while keeper Tommy Barwick turned a last-minute shot around the post to deny the opposition a share of the points.

Borough under-14s Pumas carried on their rich vein of league form going with a comprehensive 10-0 victory over Queniborough.

Man of the match Will Nicholls started the rout with an excellent individual strike – and went on to claim half the total of goals. Further strikes came from Tom Barton (two), Ryan Durran, Tony Cole (two) were also on target.

The under-14s Falcons took on Rockingham Forest and at one stage led 2-1 thanks to a Hayden penalty and a Chris Sharman strike.

But Borough’s tired legs and a lack of substitutions took their toll as Rockingham hit back to run out 5-2 winners.

Borough under-10s Lions took on neighbours Harborough Town Rampage.

Although Lions play five divisions below Rampage, there was little evidence of a gulf in class.

Hayden Sayers finished neatly to put Borough 1-0 up, before Rampage equalised with almost the last kick of the first half. But Borough continued to create chances and man of the match Sayers completed his hat-trick to seal a notable victory.

Another treble, from Billy Buchanan, sent improving Borough under-12s Kestrels on their way to an 8-3 victory over Quorn.

Kestrels dominated throughout and also had goals from Nick Evans (two), Ben Tatman and Taylor Burton to show for their efforts.

l Borough Alliance’s under-13s East Midlands Development School kept up their unbeaten start to the season in the Midland Junior Premier League with a comprehensive 8-1 victory over Redditch United.

They never looked back after captain, man of the match Elliott Morgan fired them into the lead with a long-range drive after just five minutes.

Borough dictated play and the inevitable further goals came from Jacob Harris (two), Laurie Cook, Jack Stubbs, Tom Morris (two) and Alexis Alcindor.
