KIBWORTH GC hosted the annual end-of-season am/am tournament for the Leicestershire county men, women, boys and girls golfers.
They competed in teams of four, one from each participating county squad.

Matt Bolton (Cosby), Greg Eason (Kirby Muxloe), Jenny Cooper and Rebecca Hovell (both Glen Gorse) amassed 87 points to finish first, two ahead of their challengers.

Liam Plant (Cosby), Kym Larratt (Kibworth), Oliver Booth (Scraptoft) and Zoe North (Kilworth Springs), with 85 points, were runners-up.

Martin Anderson (Kibworth), Rick Hickman (Glen Gorse), Helen Lowe (Scraptoft) and Kate Frankham (Lutterworth) with 81 points, were third.

There were two teams on 80 points - Steve Sansome (Kilworth Springs) and his clubmate Jack Mayfield, Jo Morris (Willesley Park) and Catherine Smith (Melton Mowbray), Chris Webb (Birstall), Tom Jackson (Willesley Park), Carolyn Walley (Cosby) and Amy Taylor (Hinckley).

l A Texas Scramble competition has been played at Kibworth GC.

Andrew Rastrick, Tom Duck and Phil Hammond won with their 58 return.

Simon Spence, Roger Elliott and Paul Crossland, with 58.9, were runners-up,with Chris Noble, Mark Walker and Rob Duck 59.7, third.

John Jervis, Chris Palmer and John Smith 61 were fourth, with Richard Brown, Geoff Brown and Terry Vasey 61.3, fifth.

l The second of the new series of winter Seniors Open tournaments has been completed at Kilworth Springs GC.

There was a field of almost 100 seniors from clubs in the county and further afield.

R Byrne (Coventry Hearsall) notched 41 points to win from M Dunn from the West Midlands (40 points).

G Rising (Rushden), on 39 points, was third and there was a three-way tie on 38 points. B Richardson (Hinckley) was fourth on countback from Phil Adcock (Glen Gorse), fifth, and J Wells (Wishaw), sixth.

Peter Bates (Nuneaton) had a hole-in-one at the 11th hole.

l European Seniors Tour pro Bob Larratt (Kibworth) was in fine form for the county golf Alliance tournament at Western Park GC, Leicester.

He fired 5-under-par-65 to win the pro medal award. His winning round includes six birdies - three of them 2s - coming at the firth and sixth holes and another at nine – the first of four-in-a-row. Then he signed off with two more back-to-back birdies at 16 and 17, and parred the last.

Larratt won by a stroke from Jason Powell (Hinckley) 66, runner-up, with a three-way tie on 68 between Ian Lyner (The Leicestershire), Craig Shave (Whetstone) and Oliver Johnson (Forest Hill).

The pro/am prize also went to Larratt and Glen Gorse amateur Mick Brooks with their total of 44 points in the better-ball Stableford.

But overall winners were Andy Smith and Ollie Bennett (Cosby) with 47 points, two more than two chasing pairs.

Alec Jacklin (Forest Hill) and Eric Roberts (Lingdale) were second after a tie on 45 points with Phil Adcock and Roy Nightingale (Glen Gorse), third. Lyner and Faz Deen (The Leicestershire) were in fourth place with 44 points.

Kilworth Springs GC members Ray Meherban and M Lambert, with 44 points, took the am/am award on the day.
