SPONSORS Market Harborough Building Society have strengthened kart driver Brad Fairhurst's bid to make the World Championships in Italy by improving their support package.
This is the second year the society has sponsored the 14-year-old following his superb success in 2007.

After the Harborough youngster finished the Cadet series in 2007, he moved up to the Junior Easykart Championships which meant he had to get u
sed to a bigger kart and faster speeds of up to 80mph.

Despite the changes, he is having an impressive first year, with four podium finishes, and is currently lying third in the championship.

Although there is an outside chance of moving up to second, his priority will be to keep this position.

The likelihood is Brad will be given a wild card entry to the World Championships to be held in October, where he will be competing against drivers from the UK, Italy, Poland, Japan, USA, Germany, Greece, Venezuela, Cyprus, Columbia and Russia.

Once there, all the drivers will be given a brand new kart to use for the three days. All fuel will be sealed and supplied, along with the tyres, so everyone has an equal opportunity.

The chance of a lifetime lies ahead for Brad – but he can only enter if he can raise the £2,500 costs needed.

Neil Williams of Market Harborough Building Society said: "The society is delighted to have had the opportunity to sponsor Brad in his racing.

"He is an amazing driver and to have the opportunity to be at the World Championships in his first year in Easykart racing, is a reflection of Brad's driving ability.

"We hope that he is able to raise the remaining entry fee and everyone at the society wishes him every success in Italy."
