Teams serve up charity cuppas

KETTLES were boiled, coffee was stirred, tea bags were immersed and biscuits were dunked for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning last Friday.
Clubs, schools and individuals from across the Harborough and Lutterworth areas joined thousands of others from across the UK to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
* Doris Buckle from Glooston held her sixth World's Biggest Coffee Morning event at Glooston Village Hall. About 55 people attended and it raised £750, featuring a tombola, cake stall, raffle and bric-a-brac.
She said: "We have now topped the £5,000 mark over the six years. I have some very loyal friends who come up trumps every year."
* More than £500 was raised at Great Oxendon Village Hall with a coffee morning, raffle and tombola.
Organisers Marie Barker and Sheila Williams said: "Thanks to all the people who came along and gave donations."
* An open-air coffee morning was held in Gerrard Gardens, Harborough, which saw about 40 people sat at tables and chairs in the street.
Organiser Rosemary Loake said: "My sincere thanks to everyone who supported the coffee morning. Special thanks to residents and friends who made it so successful. The amount raised was a fantastic £313. The weather was beautiful which helped."
* Staff at Edinburgh Woollen Mill on The Square held a coffee morning with cakes and biscuits. Money is still being counted.
* Andrew Granger Estate Agents in High Street, Harborough, put up green Macmillan balloons outside its office to raise awareness of its coffee morning which raised £239.04.
* Staff at solicitors Lawson-West in Coventry Road, Harborough, stood out from the crowd by wearing pink feather boas for its event. They managed to raise £27.
* A clown was one of the attractions at Pegasus Court retirement flats in Leicester Road, Harborough, for its Macmillan fundraiser. It raised £253.50.
* Parents and pupils at Harborough C of E held its own coffee morning and raised £238.97. The school thanked everyone for their support and sponsors Tesco, Sainsbury's and Tyco Valves.
* In Claybrooke Magna, the village's Forget-Me-Not Club raised about £1,000 by hosting a coffee morning at the village hall.
Dozens attended, which included a raffle, tombola and stalls selling books and bric-a-brac.
Club president Margaret Shropshire said: "It was an excellent morning and very well supported. Special thanks must go to Margaret Gordon who did most of the work and encouraged people to give donations."
* Dunton Bassett residents John and Claire Hurford raised £115 for Macmillan by holding a coffee morning at their home in Main Street.
Mrs Hurford said: "There was a steady stream of visitors throughout the morning who enjoyed refreshments, a bring-and-buy sale and raffle. We'd like to thank everyone who helped in any way to make the morning a success."
* Mary Petch, of Ullesthorpe, held a coffee morning at her home in memory of friend Diane Boyd who died from cancer. It was the fifth year the event has been held in the village.
Mrs Petch said: "We raised £759 altogether. There is a small group of us who organise the morning and we all worked hard to make it a success."
* Joyce Galley, from Dyson Close, Lutterworth, held a coffee morning at her home for the third year running, raising £565.
She said: "The weather was perfect so we moved the chairs into the garden. There were about 35 people who came along.
"I'd like to thank everyone who helped me set up and who came along or sent donations."
* Pauline Dawes held a coffee morning at her home in Saddington Road, Mowsley, on Saturday and was delighted to raise £290 for Macmillan.
She said: "We had an excellent turn-out and I would like to thank them all for being so generous and helping to raise this sum. Even people who couldn't attend kindly sent donations. I would also like to thank my friends Audrey Bingham and Siw Dracup who did a stalwart task in the kitchen making the coffee."
