GLITCHES with Lutterworth's CCTV cameras have still not been resolved despite technical faults being highlighted more than six weeks ago.
A senior council officer in charge of Lutterworth’s CCTV system was forced to admit that the system was not working properly at a public forum last month.

The issue first came to light in August with the council saying there were problems with a b
roadband link.

But Alan Paul, Harborough District Council’s community safety manager, admitted to about 30 residents at a Have Your Say meeting in Lutterworth on September 10 that although the cameras were filming and recording clear images the broadband link to the control centre in Harborough was not working, making live monitoring impossible.

“We are not able to carry out live monitoring in Lutterworth at the moment,” Mr Paul admitted at the meeting.

The town’s old cameras were replaced earlier this year and the images are transmitted to a control centre at Clover Court in Harborough. It was hoped the cameras will deter late-night anti-social behaviour in Lutterworth town centre.

Town and district councillor Geraldine Robinson told the Mail yesterday (Wed): “I just wonder what the delay is? It is unacceptable. We are not getting the facility we need.”

A spokesman for the council said yesterday (Wed): “The CCTV images are vastly improved, faster and more manageable but there are still some software adjustments to be completed by the engineers.

“This is new and complex technology and we are confident the issues will be resolved as soon as possible.”
