THE WINNERS of the Harborough Mail's Great Garden Awards for 2008 were announced at a presentation evening last week.
Watch the video here to see who the winners were and to watch their reactions at collecting their prizes.

Below is the list of winners:

Most Imaginative Garden (sponsored by Haddonstone)
The winner of this prestigious title was Graham Howes (71), of Thornborough Close, Little Bowden. Take a look at his garden here.

Claire Webber, of Summers Way, Harborough, who has won the award for the past two years, was pushed into second place. Look at her garden here.

Third was Lady Wendy Mathias (49), of Manor Road, Great Bowden. Visit her garden here.

Most Committed Volunteers (sponsored by Harborough District Council)
The Rotary Club of Harborough won this award for its members' unstinting work in planting £5,700 worth of trees of varying sizes in Welland Park. See them at work here.

The Harborough in Bloom volunteers, who spend hours planting and maintaining the town's public floral displays, were second. Find out more.

Alison and John Phillips, of Pochin Drive, Harborough, who look after the garden at Harborough's Congregational Chapel, were third. Click here to see more about them.

Best team Effort (sponsored by Kibworth Garden Centre)
The youngsters at Great Bowden School and their adult helpers scooped the Best Team Effort prize. See them at work here.

Tammy Thorne and Welland Park Pre-school came second for their sensory garden. Find out more about their garden.

Best Young Gardener (sponsored by Coles Plant Centre)
Chloe Heighton (7), of Arden Way, Harborough, was the winner. See her work here.

The runner-up was four-year-old Joseph Ward-Langman, of Morley Street, Harborough. Visit him at his plot here.

Best Back Garden (sponsored by Market Harborough Building Society)
Peter Raven (78), of Holdenby Close, Harborough, won this coveted award. Take a look at his garden.

Third was Lynn Mason (76), of Holly Drive, Lutterworth. Have a look at her gardens.

Best Front Garden (sponsored by Ullesthorpe Garden Centre)

Cynthia Fay, of Harborough Road, Maidwell, was second. Have a look at her garden.

Best Floral Display by a Business (sponsored by Wheats County Garden Centre)Alun and Rosemary Nash of the Cherry Tree pub in Little Bowden were the winners. Take a look at why.

Worst Garden of the Year (sponsored by Edwards Buildbase)
Clare and Simon Stockley, of Leicester Road, Harborough, won this award and the prize of more than £200 worth of building materials in order to transform their garden. See their photos.
