A RENOWNED musician is
visiting Harborough to play a one-off gig at the town's folk club.
Singer and songwriter Jon Harvison will be performing at the Naseby Square Folk Club on Thursday, October 9, from 7.30pm.

Jon Harvison has recorded several albums, and the West Yorkshire-based musician was hailed as one of Britain's best undiscovered artists after the release of his last album, Alibi of Innocence, in 2005.

Jon has been performing on the British and European folk circuit for more than 30 years and became a full-time professional performer in 1993.

He has recorded five albums of his own material as well as another of traditional folk covers.

Jon, who plays guitar, says his music is challenging but adds that everyone should find something to enjoy.

He added: "I played a gig a couple of years ago and afterwards a teenager told me he had been expecting to hate it but had been completely blown away.

"I've played at the Naseby Square Folk Club once before and I think it is one of the best set-ups in the country.

"John and Juliette Maher, who run it, really know their stuff and they are respected by musicians and their regulars alike."

Admission to the gig, which is at the folk club off Stuart Road, is £3 on the door.

For more information about Jon Harvison, visit his website at www.jonharvison.com or www.myspace.com/jonharvison.

The Naseby Square Folk Club is about four years old and attracts up to 50 music fans to its gigs, which are held on the second Thursday of the month.
